June 20, 1943 – The 1943 Detroit race riot started on the evening of June 20, 1943 through the morning of June 22.

The riot ended only after 6,000 federal troops were ordered into the city to restore peace, leaving a total of 34 people killed, more than 400 wounded, and 1,800 arrested.
